I was missing you so much last week, and then there was this incredible sunset sky in Los Angeles. The eastern half of the sky had an impossibly long rainbow, while the western half was this epic sun-and-cloud show.

I was missing you so much, and so moved by the beautiful sky, that got to thinking that last week was the anniversary of your last day on earth. (Surely you had a hand in stirring the sky like that.) Now that my head is clearer, I remember—today is the day. Even after four years, it feels strange that you're gone. You made the world a better place, and you made apartment 7A the best place in the world!

Preciosa Its been a long 4 years since we last spoke in person (I chat to you in my head a lot). Still so many things I'd like your smart opinion about, so many hilarious things I want to share with you, so many totally mundane things I'd like to bounce off you, so much to say to you still loca. I still email with Adam which is lovely and it was really so nice to see your mum at Christmas and of course I still have our mujeres nearby to chat to about love, life and the pursuit of happiness so I know that I'm a very lucky lady indeed, but that doesn't stop me wishing you were just at the end of a phone or an email somewhere. I've been reading our old emails - as I'm prone to doing at this time of year- and am still inspired by so many of your wise words guapa...... BUT in the spirit of the Mia I miss and love here are some of your best lines:- "in china town there's a shop called "99¢ BJ" "It was your birthday?! Fuck a duck!! I did a lot of nose bleeding and farting and sleeping and didn't think about you once!" "That's so gay and so california - let's do it!" "It's gorgeous. You're gorgeous. I would love to see your gorgeous asses." "...money exists to be spent, right kir?" There are so many more and all of them still make me laugh which is fantastic. Juicy!

Ah, my love. I'm enjoying the L.A. sunshine. It's beautiful here almost every day—and today is particularly gorgeous. The sky is big and blue and clear, and the sun is keeping everybody warm. If this sunshine were on your face, you'd be smiling so wide. I can imagine.

A really nice juice bar opened across the street from my apartment. I just had a super-healthy green juice (kale, cucumber, and so on). Because it was my first time there, they gave me a complimentary shot on the side—lemon, ginger, and cayenne, with a fresh strawberry perched on the rim of the shotglass. Kapow! I was feeling a little nappy earlier, but now I've got a burst of energy. I wish you were here to feel all energized with.

Life is good but I miss you so damn much, every day and every night.

Mia! Hello. Time passes, but every time that I walk around the Lower East Side I think of you. What a woman, thank you for your inspiration.

Guapa! Yesterday I saw your mum. She looks fantastic and beautiful. She's engaged and active in the world and had a lot of great wisdom to share with me. It was wonderful to see her and to talk about you amiga. She got to meet Sonny too which made me happy.
